Hey y'all. Hope this post finds you all well. I am making a recovery from a nasty, nasty cold. It may have even been a little bit of the flu. The bug had me good, with bone-aching tiredness, body aches, sore throat, terrible headache and awful congestion. I also have a cough and continue to cough up things unmentionable. Even a week later, I still have laryngitis and I still don't feel 100%. Having said that, I do feel that the virus is on its way out. One good thing - I discovered something awesome - Puffs Kleenex infused with Vicks.....aaahhhhhh.....
When we first moved to South Carolina, it was a complete culture shock. The way people talk, converse, live, etc. Just a little bit of a difference than northern living. We have since settled and what was once odd now seems completely normal and we very much enjoy living here. However, once in a while I will see or hear something that makes me laugh and realize how much we are living up to the stigma of "redneck." I was driving by a Cat Clinic yesterday and the sign read: "Luv Yer Cat - Git It Groomed." Yup, redneck south alive and well.... :o)
Another weird thing...Jeremieh was telling me yesterday about reports of a "Lizard Man" in South Carolina. I know, I know, sounds insane, right? Apparently, back in 1988, by a certain swamp, a 17-year old boy was changing a tire on his car and was approached by a "Lizard Man." The thing attacked his car but the boy was able to get away. He reported the incident to the police who took pictures of terrible scratch marks, etc. on his car. The SC Dept of Marine Biology also went to the swamp and took plaster casts of three-toed tracks made by no creature on record. WEIRD! Anyway, this tale died down and not much else happened in the ensuing years. However, it seems there has been a return of the "Lizard Man!" Just last month a couple reported that their cats were missing and their cars had odd scratch marks, holes and other damage that appeared to be made by something other than a human. I know, this sounds totally absurd, but Wikipedia even has a site on it. Believe what you may, but check it out here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lizard_Man_of_Scape_Ore_Swamp
We have had absolutely beautiful weather the last few days. Temps reaching near 70, gorgeous sun and just amazing. Today the weather takes a nasty turn. We keep our warm weather, but we are expecting torrential rain, hail and severe thunderstorms. Ella and I are staying cozy inside today and I am working on paperwork. Yuck. That's OK. I love gray days at home and I am looking forward to some rain.
Hope to hear from you all soon. Stay warm and well.
Love and miss you,
Nicki
